At the National Environmental Collective, our mission is to unite diverse voices in the pursuit of environmental justice and the establishment of sustainable communities across the nation. Through active engagement of youth, comprehensive workforce development initiatives, and the implementation of community-driven solutions, we empower individuals to emerge as leaders dedicated to effecting positive change. Our programs are designed to equip participants with the necessary skills, knowledge, and opportunities to pursue green careers while addressing pressing issues such as climate resilience, health disparities, and equitable development. By fostering inclusive coalitions and supporting grassroots initiatives, we aim to cultivate environmental movements that embrace diversity and drive policy reforms towards a future that is both just and sustainable. Join us today in harnessing collective power for a better tomorrow.
In 2023, Black, Latino, and Indigenous environmental leaders held a conference and focus groups confirming funding disparities for minority-led CBOs in environmental justice. A Stanford study found nonprofits led by people of color receive less funding. After the conference, the leaders formed the National Environmental Collective, a nonprofit seeking to end these disparities and help minority CBOs access funds for environmental justice. The Collective aims to challenge systemic bias and close the funding gap limiting environmental progress in communities of color.
